GRAMMY Award Organizers Unveil Exciting Schedule of Events Leading Up to the Main Event
The 2025 Grammy Awards season is underway, with a packed calendar of events culminating in the main event at the Arena in Los Angeles next year. The journey starts with the nomination ceremony, scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2024.
In response to the shifting music landscape, the Recording Academy has made significant changes to various award categories, aiming to enhance the integrity and inclusivity of the GRAMMY Awards. These revised categories are designed to reflect contemporary industry standards and celebrate a broader range of musical genres.
The live broadcast on live.GRAMMY.com will reveal which artists are vying for the most prestigious accolades in the music industry. Details of the updated categories have been published on the Academy’s website.
This year, the Academy has introduced a “Best Dance Pop Recording” category, replacing the previous “Best Pop Dance Recording” category, and has reorganized the “Best Remixed Recording” category within the Pop & Dance/Electronic Field. These adjustments demonstrate the Academy’s commitment to supporting the evolving music landscape and promoting an awards process that truly empowers creators.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. emphasized the GRAMMY’s rich legacy as a 67-year tradition, stating that “every vote has the power to shape the future of music” in his address to the Voting Members.
The nominations serve as a precursor to the grand finale, the 67th GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 2, which will be live-streamed from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
In addition, the Academy has updated the eligibility and submission guidelines, particularly in the Songwriter of the Year category, which now allows songwriters to qualify with a reduced number of songs, aiming to “welcome more voices” into the field.
Key Dates to Mark in the Road to the 2025 Grammy Awards:
- September 16, 2023 – August 30, 2024: Product Eligibility Period – All recordings must be available to the public during this period to qualify for GRAMMY consideration in 2025.
- July 8, 2024 – August 23, 2024: Media Company Registration Period – Media companies apply for registration with the Recording Academy to submit recordings.
- July 17, 2024 – August 30, 2024: Online Entry Period – Eligible recordings must be submitted during this period, regardless of their public release date.
- October 4, 2024 – October 15, 2024: First Round Voting – Voting Members cast their ballots to determine the nominees for each GRAMMY category.
- November 8, 2024: Nomination Announcement – The official list of nominees for the 2025 GRAMMYs is unveiled. Watch the nominations livestream event on live.GRAMMY.com.
- December 12, 2024 – January 3, 2025: Final Round Voting – Voting Members make their selections for the GRAMMY winners across all categories.
