Debunking the Rumours: Rochas Okorocha is Alive and Kicking
A statement released on Thursday by Ebere Nzeworji, the aide to former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, has effectively put to rest the notion that the former governor has passed away. The claims, which spread like wildfire on social media on Wednesday, alleged that Okorocha had died in a London hospital.
Nzeworji revealed that Okorocha was spotted at his office in Garki, Abuja, around the same time the rumour began to circulate. Moreover, he had only recently returned from Owerri, Imo State, and was seen at various social events, demonstrating his good health.
Among other activities, Okorocha attended the funeral ceremony of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on November 1 and hosted the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other representatives at his Owerri residence.
Nzeworji urged the public to ignore the false reports and treat them with the contempt they deserve.
“It’s astonishing that someone would resort to spreading such malicious news. Rochas Okorocha has always been a dedicated and caring individual, building connections with people from all walks of life,” the statement read.
“He has never condoned or promoted harm to anyone and is known for his warm and compassionate nature. We implore well-meaning Nigerians and the global community to discount this fake news and take comfort in knowing that the former governor is in robust health,” the statement concluded.
