Tragedy in Plateau State: Youth Killed by NDLEA Officials
A horrific incident has shaken the community in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, as a young man, Faisal Yakubu Hussaini, was brutally killed by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to eyewitnesses, the officials stormed a lodge in the area, terrifying the youth with gunfire, and claimed the life of the 20-year-old victim.
Local residents have reported that when they asked the officers about the reason behind the killing, they failed to provide any explanation.
The Kanam Development Association (KADA) has strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing and called for swift justice.
In a statement, KADA Secretary ND Shehu Kanam expressed outrage and sadness at the incident, saying: “The brutal killing of Faisal Yakubu Hussaini by NDLEA officials is unacceptable and a clear violation of his fundamental human rights.”
He further stated: “While we acknowledge the NDLEA’s right to operate within the bounds of the law, we condemn this brutal and unjustifiable killing, which undermines public trust in law enforcement. We demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officers involved in this heinous crime.”
The KADA Secretary also urged calm among the youth and vowed to work tirelessly to ensure justice is served, adding: “We will not let this incident go unchecked and will strive to hold those responsible accountable.”
