Unifying the PDP: A Call to Rebuild and Serve Nigeria
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, made a passionate appeal to stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to come together and rebuild the party to serve the best interests of Nigeria.
The governor delivered his remarks at the inauguration of the Board of Governors of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) in Abuja on Thursday.
Makinde emphasized the importance of the PDP providing an ideological base for the country, as Nigerians seek direction and clarity in national governance. He underscored that the party is the best platform to effect positive change in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The governor reflected on his own political journey, expressing gratitude to the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve Oyo State. He vowed to use his position to positively impact the party and ensure its growth.
“As we look to the future, it is essential that we unite and present a clear alternative to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027,” Makinde said. “By revitalizing the PDI, we are taking a crucial step towards defining our ideology and cementing our place in history.”
Makinde urged politicians to consider their legacy and strive to leave a lasting impact. “Players may come and go, but we must be remembered for something,” he emphasized.
The governor praised the efforts of those who have contributed to the revitalization of the PDI, highlighting the institute’s significant contributions to governance during the leadership of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
With the inauguration of the PDI Board of Governors and the unveiling of the PDI roadmap, Makinde expressed optimism that the PDP is poised to take a significant step forward in its development.
