Suspected terrorists attack seven Zamfara villages, abduct over 100 civilians

Over 100 Abducted As Suspected Terrorists Attack Seven Villages In Zamfara

At least 100 people have gone missing after a coordinated terror attack on seven villages in the Wanke district of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers, wielding sophisticated firearms, descended on the communities on motorbikes on Tuesday, spraying gunfire before rounding up residents and taking them captive. The assault was swift and brutal, leaving a trail of fear and destruction.

One of those abducted is a chief imam who was recently released from captivity after being held by bandits. The imam is just one of many lives torn apart by the shocking attack.

A survivor of the massacre described the aftermath as chaos and panic gripped the area. “The situation is dire,” he recounted. “Over 50 people were taken near Sabon Layi, and another 50 were abducted from the vicinity of Dogon Hayi.” With many residents still unaccounted for, the uncertainty and fear are palpable.

As the survivor recounted the horrors of the attack, he described the terrorists as merciless. “They chased people like animals,” he said, his voice filled with anguish. The bandits also made off with motorcycles, farm produce, mobile phones, and valuables, leaving the victims with nothing.

The survivor expressed his frustration with the authorities’ response, stating that the officials at Wanke were informed of the attack, but no action has been taken to date. This lack of action has added to the sense of fear and helplessness among the affected communities.

As night begins to fall, the surviving residents are left to fear for their lives. With no animals left behind and the threat of further violence looming, staying in their homes has become a nightmare. The community is held hostage by the terrorists’ brutal tactics, and hope seems to be dwindling.
