Rising Nigerian music star, Davido, makes his mark in the US presidential election.
Award-winning artist and ‘Awuke’ crooner, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has cast his first-ever vote in a United States election.
According to Naijawebinfo, the singer shared the news on X.com, posting a photo of himself proudly holding up his “I’m a Georgia voter. I secured my vote!” sticker.
The historic vote took place on Tuesday, with Americans casting their ballots for either Democrat Kamala Harris or Republican Donald Trump.
In the hours leading up to the election, Davido took to his official X handle to encourage American citizens to prioritize their safety while exercising their constitutional right to vote. His message read, “Stay safe, y’all, as you perform your duties!”
As a dual citizen, born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Nigerian parents, Davido’s decision to vote is a testament to his commitment to engaging with the democratic process. This achievement follows his previous recognition at the Georgia General Assembly in December 2023, where he was honored as an exemplary citizen.
This milestone comes on the heels of a significant personal event for Davido and his wife, Chioma. In October 2023, the couple welcomed the arrival of twins, a son and a daughter, in the United States.
