Nigerian football fans can look forward to the Super Eagles’ training camp opening in Abidjan next week, with Augustine Eguavoen set to join the team immediately after wrapping up his medical appointment abroad.
This comes as the Eagles gear up for a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Benin Republic, scheduled to take place on November 14 at 8 p.m. at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
The team will aim to secure their position in the 2025 tournament with a win, given their current lead of four points over Benin Republic, with just one more point needed to guarantee their spot.
The Super Eagles will welcome the Amavubi of Rwanda to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on November 18, as part of their continued efforts in the qualification campaign.
With four matches already under their belt, the Eagles currently sit atop Group D with 10 points.
Nwankwo Kanu, a former Nigerian international, has called for Augustine Eguavoen to be appointed as the substantive head coach of the Super Eagles. According to Kanu, “If I were the NFF President, I’d have given him the job by now. What are they waiting for? Are we waiting for him to lose two matches before we say he should go? This is overdue; they have to act.” With Eguavoen set to join the team ahead of the crucial matches, fans will be keen to see how the coach leads the team to success.
