Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has accused opposition figures of orchestrating a deceitful campaign in Abuja and other locations, designed to mislead the people of Abia about his administration.
During a swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Umuahia on Monday, where he inaugurated chairmen, deputy chairmen, and councilors for the state’s 17 local government areas, Otti expressed concern over what he deemed a deliberate ploy by opposition members to spread misinformation.
Otti alleged that these individuals are fabricating both authentic and fabricated documents to fuel their propaganda, aiming to undermine his government’s achievements.
Although he declined to name specific individuals, Otti emphasized that his administration remains unfazed by these attempts, citing past failures by opposition groups to sway public opinion.
Addressing the opposition, Otti warned, “You are gathering in Abuja and elsewhere, driven solely by a desire to deceive and distract this government.” He added that they have developed a strategy to produce both genuine and fake documents to support false narratives and propaganda.
Quoting a biblical passage, Otti reassured his audience that these gatherings will ultimately fail. “The Bible assures us that since these gatherings are not ordained by God, they will scatter. Do not underestimate the people of Abia,” he cautioned.
The governor also challenged the opposition, questioning their chances of success in light of the significant improvements his administration has made in Abia within the past 18 months.
Otti concluded, “You have attempted this before and failed. What makes you think you will succeed this time, given the transformation that has taken place in this state in less than 18 months? A word is enough for the wise.“
