Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, is boldly predicting a victorious outcome for Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, citing the former’s impressive credentials and strong public support.
The Obidient Movement is pinning its hopes on Obi’s remarkable achievements and its own efforts to ensure free and fair elections.
In a stirring address at the Obidient Movement’s good governance symposium in Onitsha, Anambra State, Yunusa passionately declared, “We’re determined to ensure that 2027 will be a different story altogether. In 2023, our victory was marred by electoral malpractices. This time, we won’t let history repeat itself.”
To achieve this goal, the movement is working tirelessly to push for electoral reforms, deploying a robust team to polling units, and advocating for the public appointment of an INEC chairman instead of relying on the President’s discretion.
Yunusa also highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government’s failure to meet the expectations of various regions, including the North, East, and West, giving Obi’s campaign an added boost in 2027.
Prof. Pat Utomi, in his keynote address, emphasized the crucial role that collective action plays in bringing about meaningful change in Nigeria. He applauded the Obidient Movement for its willingness to sacrifice and work together to achieve a better Nigeria.
Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, the convener of the Peter Obi Support Network and chair of the symposium’s planning committee, explained that the event aimed to chart a new course for the Obidient Movement in the South-East, strengthen its partnerships with Anambra State support groups, and focus on strategic development.
The forum also featured prominent Labour Party governorship aspirants from Anambra State, including Chief Valentine Ozigbo, Chief John Nwosu, and Chief Ikenna Azomcine, who emphasized the importance of transforming the state and fostering good governance.
