A tragic incident has Rocked Kwara State Capital Ilorin, which led to the death of 27-year-old university student, Suleiman Olayinka. Reports from the scene indicate that he was assaulted by a trio of Nigeria Police Force personnel at a checkpoint in Ilorin’s Tanke Bridge at 2 p.m.on Tuesday.
Eyewitness claims the victim was confronted soon after disembarking from his motorcycle, when the Police officers forced him to the ground. It is being gathered that the victim and others had visited the payment platform to collect N1000 he had previously received for a transportation service only for the money to got misplaced.
A witness provided vivid details, stating an account of what transpired when he arrived at scene saying: ‘I with him; as soon when got the money, some Police officers, who, for no just cause assaulted, dragged him to group down. kept asking had, but did not have he say let.’
Efforts by the victim did nothing to salvage the dangerous situation as the officers took his pleas to ignore on knowing he had asthma medical conditions. Meanwhile, KWASU’s student became late victim at the crime of his age.
Taking actions, Police spokesperson claimed of this sad incident while disclosing that three officers caught by the eye of public to be held for interrogating as for the man deceased.
According to Adeyemi DSP, while on duty said, stating as regards case of reported for the officer involved will also be to the side investigated further with the matter that unfold.
