Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Mourns the Passing of Dr. Alex Ogbonnia’s Mother
Deaconess Esther Ogbonnia, the mother of Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, the spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has passed away at the age of 88. Her passing occurred on November 2, 2024, at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu State.
Dr. Ogbonnia paid tribute to his mother, describing her as “highly endowed and exceptional in faith”. He expressed admiration for her life and character, stating that the family would share details of the funeral arrangements at a later date.
The news of her passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from the Igbo community.
A statement issued by Dr. Ogbonnia read: “Deaconess Esther Oligwe Ogbonnia (Nee Uzoagbala) has joined the Saints Triumphant at the age of 88. Her transition occurred at the UNTH, Enugu on Saturday, November 2, 2024. She was blessed with a loving family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including The Rt. Hon. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, PhD; SKC Ogbonnia, PhD; Ozo Clifford Ogbonnia; Ozo Obi-Jackson Ogbonnia; Chief Mrs Francisca Okafor; Miss Eyiuche Ogbonnia; and Ozo Olisa Uzoagbala Ogbonnia. The family will announce the funeral arrangements at a later date.”
