Victor Osimhen’s Star Power Shines Bright Again as Galatasaray Edges Samsunspor 3-2
Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has made a habit of delivering thrilling performances, and his latest outing was no exception. He scored two goals, including a crucial second half header, to help Galatasaray secure a 3-2 win over Samsunspor on Sunday.
This impressive display comes on the heels of Osimhen’s previous dominant showing, where he bagged a brace in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur just three days prior.
Osimhen got Galatasaray off to a flying start, heading home a beautifully crafted move just three minutes into the match. However, Samsunspor fought back, with Cameroonian midfielder Olivier Ntcham equalizing from the penalty spot midway through the second half.
Undeterred, Osimhen popped up again just five minutes later, guiding a precise header past the Samsunspor goalkeeper to restore Galatasaray’s lead. His impressive form has seen him rack up an impressive eight goals and four assists in nine appearances under head coach Okan Buruk.
Galatasaray sealed the win with five minutes to spare, thanks to a substitute goal from Michy Batshuayi. Samsunspor’s Youssef Bennasser pulled one back in stoppage time, but the damage was done.
In a touching moment during the match, Osimhen paid tribute to his injured teammate Mauro Icardi by holding up his shirt and mimicking his signature goal celebration. Icardi, watching from the stands, was visibly moved and applauded Osimhen’s thoughtful gesture.
