Tragic Incident Rocks Rivers State: Man Lynched and Dismembered
A violent incident has shaken Rivers State, leaving a man brutally murdered and his body ravaged beyond recognition. The man, identified as a notorious thief, met his untimely demise in a chaotic scene that involved a mob and a vehicle.
A statement released by the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that the police received a distress call on November 9, 2024, reporting an unidentified corpse found near Ayama Junction/Ikokwu Spare Parts Market, along Olu-Obasanjo Road in Port Harcourt.
Upon investigating the scene, police officers discovered that the deceased had been involved in a crime when he was attacked by a mob. The violent crowd had lynched the man, and his lifeless body was subsequently thrown onto the road, where it was struck by a speeding vehicle, causing further harm.
The police statement revealed that the deceased was a serial burglar and thief operating in the Ikokwu area. Despite the significant bodily damage, the coroner’s report found all vital organs intact.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are appealing to the public to provide any information that may aid their inquiry. The command reiterates its commitment to maintaining law and order in the community and ensuring justice is served.
