Tragedy Strikes Utu Etim Ekpo as Truck Crashes into Shops, Killing Three and Injuring Many
A devastating incident occurred on Monday evening in Utu Etim Ekpo, the headquarters of Etim Ekpo local government area in Akwa Ibom State, leaving three people dead and several others injured.
According to Gabriel Akpan, a resident of the area, the truck driver refused to stop when flagged down by the soldiers at the Nkwot Ikot Ebo portion of the road. The soldiers gave chase, but the driver continued to accelerate, causing the truck to lose control and veer off the road.
Eno Umanah, a motorcyclist who witnessed the crash, explained that the driver’s attempt to escape the soldiers led to a loss of control, resulting in the truck crashing into several makeshift shops near the motor park.
The sudden and unexpected crash claimed the lives of three people, while many others were left injured. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of road safety and the devastating consequences of reckless behavior behind the wheel.
