Edo State Governor Appoints Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole as Health Commissioner-designate
In a move to strengthen the state’s healthcare system, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has appointed Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole as his Health Commissioner-designate. This announcement comes just hours after Okpebholo’s swearing-in as the 6th governor of Edo State.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Who is Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole?
Dr. Oshiomhole’s academic journey began at St. Anne’s Primary School, followed by Command Secondary School. He later pursued higher education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).
He continued his education at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, LA, obtaining a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) with a major in Environmental Health, Toxicology, and Disaster Management.
Dr. Oshiomhole also underwent postgraduate training in Clinical Research at Harvard University, Boston, and studied Gastroenterology at Queen Mary University, London.
Notably, Dr. Oshiomhole is the son of former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.
