Eight Early Birds Arrive at Super Eagles Camp Ahead of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were among the first players to arrive at the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan, marking the beginning of their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
A total of eight players, including Amas Obasogie, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, Gabriel Osho, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, joined the team early, according to the Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe.
He confirmed that more players will arrive on Tuesday, just ahead of their crucial match against Benin Republic’s Cheetahs at the Stade Felix-Houphouet-Boigny on Thursday.
The Super Eagles are set to travel to Uyo on Friday, where they will prepare for their final qualifying game against Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Monday.
With the team currently sitting at the top of Group D, a draw against the Cheetahs would secure their spot in the tournament. Their closest rivals, the Amavubi, will be their opponents in the final game of the qualifying tournament.
Moses Simon has expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite their difficult start to the qualifying series.
The three-time African champions are currently in a challenging fifth position in Group D, having accumulated only three points from four matches played.
To boost their chances of reaching the World Cup finals, Simon emphasizes that the Super Eagles must win all of their remaining six qualification matches.
