Independent Petroleum Marketers Association Prepared to Source Petrol Directly from Dangote Refinery
Yakubu Suleiman, National Assistant Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN), expressed the organization’s readiness to lift petrol from Dangote Refinery, addressing long-standing concerns over third-party involvement in the sale of refined petroleum products.
In a recent interview with Arise TV, Suleiman clarified that IPMAN’s negotiations with Dangote Refinery aimed to establish a direct relationship, bypassing middlemen, and result in a more competitive price for Nigerians.
According to Suleiman, Dangote Refinery officials and IPMAN representatives had a productive meeting, discussing pricing and laying the groundwork for a seamless partnership.
IPMAN is expected to announce a new petrol price within the next few days, as negotiations are ongoing with Dangote Refinery to finalize the pricing structure.
Suleiman emphasized IPMAN’s commitment to serving Nigeria’s best interests, stating, “We want to be part of the solution. We want to be seen as Nigerians who can contribute to the growth of our country. We believe that with Dangote Refinery, we can achieve this.”
Responding to allegations of IPMAN operating as a cartel, Suleiman strongly denied such claims, emphasizing that the association seeks a fair and equitable business environment, where IPMAN members can operate successfully and provide competitive prices for Nigerian consumers.
“IPMAN is not a cartel. We are marketers seeking to establish a direct connection with Dangote Refinery, ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products to the Nigerian market,” Suleiman stressed.
The agreement with Dangote Refinery marks a significant step towards achieving IPMAN’s goals, enabling the organization to purchase products directly from the refinery and deliver them to end-users in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.
