Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has emphasized his commitment to democracy in Nigeria, which motivated his recent visit to Ondo State to campaign for the party’s governorship candidate, Sola Ebiseni.
According to Obi, Ebiseni possesses the skills and expertise needed to effectively govern Ondo State, having been impressed by his commitment to fairness, equity, and justice during his interactions with him.
During his visit, Obi spoke about the importance of choosing leaders who embody these values, rather than being driven by transactional politics, which he believes has contributed to widespread misgovernance in the country.
He emphasized that a capable and committed leader can turn things around for the better, despite the many challenges Nigeria faces.
In a post on his social media handle, Obi wrote, “Despite the numerous challenges plaguing our electoral system and the criticisms surrounding recent elections, I remain steadfast in my commitment to democracy in Nigeria.”
He continued, “It is this conviction that propelled me to travel to Ondo State yesterday to campaign alongside our Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Hon. Sola Ebiseni – a candidate I believe possesses the competence and capacity to govern the State effectively.”
Obi urged the people of Ondo to choose a leader who shares their values and will work for the greater good, rather than being swayed by transactional politics.
In conclusion, Obi wrote, “Despite the current challenges, I remain hopeful that committed, capable leadership can and will turn things around.”
