Bello Turji, Notorious Bandits’ Leader, Engaged in Gun Battle with Soldiers and Hunters in Sokoto
According to reports, a fierce gun battle is underway in Gatawa town, Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state, between notorious bandits’ leader, Bello Turji, and a combined force of soldiers and local hunters.
The clash began around 6 am this morning, and the town is currently under a state of restricted movement, with residents staying indoors and avoiding any unnecessary travel.
A source close to the situation revealed that the bandits attempted to launch an attack on the town, but were thwarted by the joint forces of soldiers and hunters, who prevented them from entering the town.
The source also confirmed that the gun battle is still ongoing, with both sides exchanging fire, and expressed concern about the uncertainty of the situation. “We’re in shock, no one knows what will happen next. The town is quiet, no one is coming in or going out. We’ll only have details of the encounter once the fight is over,” the source said.
Another source, who wished to remain anonymous, described the gun battle as the most intense they had ever witnessed in the area, and expressed hope that Bello Turji would be killed in the fight. “This is the most terrible encounter we’ve seen. We hope this will be the end of Bello Turji. We’re praying that the soldiers will defeat the bandits and that Bello Turji will be among those killed,” the source said.
The source also expressed the hope that more soldiers would be deployed to the area to support those already on the ground, and that the bandits would also call for reinforcements from their colleagues.
