Sowore Runs for President: “Peter Obi Is No Different from the Rest”

‘I Have Been Running For President Before Peter Obi, No Lesser Evil In My Book’ – Sowore

Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore shares his reasons for not partnering with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

Sowore, who has been vying for the presidency long before Obi’s rise to prominence, believes that the former Anambra State governor does not differ from other corrupt politicians. He emphasizes that he will never support any Nigerian leader who has underperformed in office.

As the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Sowore stresses that Obi’s only advantage lies in his ability to present himself effectively. He believes that anyone can do what Obi has done.

A recent episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast featured Sowore’s comments, which were reported by Naijawebinfo.

“Before you discovered Peter Obi, I was already running for President,” Sowore said. “All these shouts about Peter Obi… He just knows how to package. Anyone can do it.”

Sowore also emphasized that joining forces with Obi would go against his core values, which include never supporting a Nigerian leader who has held office and performed poorly. He cites his refusal to partner with Atiku Abubakar, Obi’s former running mate, as an example.

“It’s the same reason I would never have joined hands with Atiku,” Sowore said. “And the Peter Obi you are talking about was Vice Presidential candidate to Atiku when I was presidential candidate in 2019. So, what are we talking about? There is no lesser evil in my book. If you are evil, you are evil. If you are good, you are good. I have a general disdain for non-performance.”
