Super Eagles Roster Fills Out Ahead of Critical AFCON Qualifiers
As the countdown begins to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, is assembling its strength in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. With their crucial group stage matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda on the horizon, the team’s camp is bustling with 21 players now present and accounted for.
The initial wave of arrivals on Monday, November 11, included the likes of Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Samuel Chukwueze, Gabriel Osho, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, setting the tone for the team’s preparation.
Three more players, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Maduka Okoye, joined the squad the following morning, November 12. This morning, November 13, saw a significant boost in numbers as the team welcomed some of its biggest names, including the dynamic forward Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, and William Troost-Ekong.
Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Alhassan Yusuf, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Alex Iwobi, and Victor Collins have also made their way to the camp, swelling the ranks to 21.
The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic on Tuesday, November 14, at 8 p.m. in Ivory Coast, before heading to Nigeria to take on Rwanda on Monday, November 18, at 5 p.m. at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. With a current tally of 10 points from four matches, the team is in a strong position to seal their place in the 2025 AFCON, needing only a point from these upcoming games to guarantee their spot.
