Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Leads APC Heavyweights to Ondo for Governorship Campaign
Naijawebinfo reports that Shettima landed at Akure Airport on Wednesday at noon, spearheading a delegation of influential figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alongside Shettima, several APC governors arrived in Akure for the rally, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, and Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
A slew of notable party stalwarts also made the trip, including Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti, former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole, Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji Ojo, Minister of Youth, Ayodele Olawande, and others.
The APC candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been campaigning to succeed the late Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on December 26, 2023. Aiyedatiwa is the party’s flag bearer in the upcoming election, scheduled for Saturday, November 16.
According to sources, Shettima is expected to visit the Palace of Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, before heading to the campaign venue.
In a related development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the Ondo State gubernatorial election, Agboola Ajayi, has made the bold claim that he is the only candidate truly addressing the concerns of the state’s citizens.
Ajayi also accused the APC candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, of rushing to approve last-minute projects in a desperate attempt to win over voters.
