Thierry Henry Praises Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League Chances
Legendary French footballer Thierry Henry is confident that Barcelona has what it takes to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy this season. In a recent interview with CBS Sports, Henry highlighted the team’s strengths and noted that their past setbacks in the competition could be a valuable learning experience.
Under the guidance of new manager Hansi Flick, who joined the team ahead of the 2024-2025 season, Barcelona has shown impressive form. After a tough opening match against AS Monaco, they bounced back with dominant victories over Young Boys (5-0 at home), Bayern Munich (4-1 at home), and Crvena zvezda (2-5 away).
Following their thrilling win over Crvena zvezda, Henry shared his thoughts on Barcelona’s Champions League prospects. He emphasized that the team must be considered one of the top contenders for the title.
“Right now, this team is well-equipped to make a deep run in the competition. Sometimes, experiencing defeat in a semi-final or quarter-final can teach a team valuable lessons. I genuinely believe they are ready to excel this time around,” Henry said.
As someone who knows what it takes to win the Champions League, Henry should be taken seriously. He secured his only Champions League title with Barcelona during the 2008-2009 season, after spending several years at Premier League side Arsenal in two separate stints.
