In a scathing attack, President Bola Tinubu has referred to opposition politicians as “reactionary figures,” urging Ondo State voters to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election.
Addressing a massive crowd at the APC’s grand finale campaign rally in Akure, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, raised questions about the loyalty of former governors of Ondo State. He asked rhetorically, “If Ajasin were alive today, would he be supporting a party other than the APC? If Akeredolu were present, would he be supporting the APC or a reactionary party?”
Tinubu appealed to the people of Ondo State to vote for the APC, emphasizing that it was a step towards progress and the continuation of developmental projects in the South-West region. He highlighted the approval of a federal teaching hospital for the state, promising continued investment in its growth.
Appealing to voters, Tinubu urged them to turn out in large numbers for the APC, stating, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”
APC candidate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa reassured the people that he would continue to advance the state’s progress, saying, “I am here to carry forward the vision and ensure the development of Ondo State.” Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence that the party would win across all 18 local government areas, declaring, “We are ready for success in Ondo State.”
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for Ondo, urged supporters to avoid conflict with the opposition, encouraging them to speak through their votes to ensure an APC victory.
National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, attended the rally, presenting the party’s flag to Aiyedatiwa and his running mate, Dr. Olayide Adelami. Ganduje affirmed the party’s commitment to supporting Aiyedatiwa’s victory, stating, “We are here to see Ondo State align with progress through the APC.”
