Reality TV Star Uriel Oputa Opens Up About the Challenges of Caring for Her Ailing Mother with Dementia

In a heartfelt post on her Instagram story, Uriel, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, shared the difficulties she faces in caring for her mother, who is struggling with vascular dementia.

Uriel’s mother’s condition has been a significant challenge, forcing her to devote constant attention to her care, which has left her feeling unproductive.

Unfortunately, her mother’s dementia could have been prevented if she had consistently taken her high blood pressure medication, according to Uriel.

In her post, Uriel wrote about the struggles she has faced in caring for her mother, acknowledging that it has been incredibly hard at times. However, she also emphasized the importance of forgiveness, citing her decision to forgive her mother for not taking her medication as scheduled, which may have prevented her stroke and dementia.

Uriel explained that she had to let go of her anger and forgive her mother for the things she would no longer be able to do in the future, such as attending important family rituals.

Her experience has made her realize the importance of speaking out about health and prevention, and she hopes to spare others the difficulties she is currently facing. She described the situation as “hard” and expressed her desire to have her mother back to her old self.
