Atiku Clarifies PDP Presidential Ambitions, Fires Back at Wike

It Is Depressing PDP Crisis Is Focused On Wike, Atiku – Ologbondiyan

Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President, has responded to comments made by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, regarding the 2027 presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naijawebinfo recalls that Wike had earlier stated that Atiku would not be permitted to become the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2027.

In a recent press conference, Wike criticized Atiku, saying, “He is lobbying for another chance, but the chance will not be there. In which party? How can we rely on one man for so many years?”

Wike alleged that Atiku is seeking another opportunity to be the party’s candidate, but he will not be granted that chance.

In response, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, released a statement reminding Wike of how Atiku “thoroughly schooled him and his chosen protégé” during the 2019 election.

Shaibu stated that if Wike had the authority to distribute presidential tickets, he would have kept one for himself, citing Atiku’s decisive victory over Wike’s protégé in the 2019 election.

Shaibu also criticized Wike for focusing on the PDP’s presidential candidate rather than addressing the pressing issues affecting Nigerians, such as the worsening conditions of living.

“Isn’t it too early in the day for that?” Shaibu asked. “This hunger is becoming unbearable; it’s what we should be addressing, not political maneuvers for 2027,” he added.
