Bala Mohammed’s Reasons for Demanding Damagum’s Removal as PDP Chairman

Wike Reveals Why Bala Mohammed Wants Damagum Removed As PDP National Chairman

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike Accuses Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed of Plotting to Remove PDP Chairman

In a dramatic turn of events, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed is working to oust Umar Damagum as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to Wike, Mohammed’s motive behind this move is Damagum’s refusal to succumb to his demands.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike expressed deep dissatisfaction with Mohammed’s leadership of the PDP Governors’ Forum, calling him “treacherous” for conspiring to maintain his position.

Wike claimed that Mohammed and his allies sought to defy the tradition of alternating the chairmanship between the North and South after the tenure of Tambuwal, PDP Governors’ Forum chairman. This, he argued, has led to a breakdown in leadership and efficiency within the party.

The Minister accused Mohammed of prioritizing personal ambition over the greater good, and failing to provide effective leadership to the party. Wike emphasized that being a leader requires making sacrifices and galvanizing others to work towards a common goal.

The Minister also highlighted the party’s struggles in funding, organization, and readiness for elections, criticizing Mohammed for his lack of effort in addressing these issues. According to Wike, it was Mohammed who suggested that Damagum should complete Ayu’s tenure as chairman, and later pushed for Damagum’s removal when the latter did not comply with his demands.
