Super Eagles Coach Augustine Eguavoen Unveils Lineup for Crucial 2025 AFCON Qualifier Against Benin Republic

The highly anticipated match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Cheetahs of Benin Republic is set to kick off tonight, November 14, at 8 p.m. in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In preparation for the game, Coach Eguavoen has opted for a 3-4-3 formation, designed to strike a balance between defensive solidity and attacking flair.

Stanley Nwabali, goalkeeper for Chippa United, will be the last line of defense, utilizing his agility and quick reflexes to keep the Cheetahs at bay.

The defensive unit will be anchored by captain William Troost-Ekong, a seasoned leader with a wealth of experience. He will be flanked by Calvin Bassey and Gabriel Osho, who will make his international debut in this crucial encounter.

Ola Aina of Nottingham Forest and Bruno Onyemaechi of Boavista will occupy the wing-back positions, providing width, pace, and attacking thrust from the flanks.

In the midfield, Wilfred Ndidi will play a key role in disrupting opposition plays and distributing the ball effectively. He will be partnered by Alex Iwobi, who boasts the vision and technical skill to create scoring opportunities and link up with the forwards.

Victor Osimhen, the dynamic striker, will lead the charge up front, supported by Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho. The trio aims to capitalize on any scoring chances and put pressure on the Cheetah defense throughout the match.

A draw or a win against Benin tonight will secure the Super Eagles’ spot in the 2025 AFCON, which will be hosted by Morocco.
