Senator Sumaila Takes Legal Action Against NNPP Chairman Dungurawa Over Corruption Allegations

Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, the representative of Kano South, has issued a strong warning to Hashimu Dungurawa, the chairman of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), threatening legal action over grave allegations of corruption and election malpractice.

Through his lawyer, Sunusi Musa SAN, Sumaila has accused Dungurawa of making damaging accusations against him, including embezzlement of public funds meant for local development projects and bribery to sway the 2023 Kano State Gubernatorial election in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a formal notice to Dungurawa, Sumaila is demanding a full retraction of the allegations and a public apology published in two national newspapers within 24 hours. If this demand is not met, Sumaila vows to take legal action against Dungurawa.

The exact allegations made by Dungurawa include claims of misappropriating funds allocated for projects such as water and a town hall stadium in Sumaila Local Government Area, as well as accepting a staggering $80 million from Honourable Abubakar Kabiru Bichi to influence the gubernatorial election.

Dungurawa’s claims were broadcasted on Freedom Radio (99.5 FM) and widely disseminated on social media, potentially reaching a global audience.
