Kazim Adeoti, Nollywood movie marketer, addresses criticisms of his marriage to actress Mercy Aigbe.
Earlier this year, Mercy announced Kazim as her husband, sparking controversy after Funsho Adeoti, Kazim’s first wife, accused Mercy of snatching him away.
Kazim, a devout Muslim, has defended his decision to marry a second wife, citing his faith as the driving force behind his choices.
In a recent interview with journalists at the National Film and Video Censors Board’s (NFVCB) 4th Peace Ayiam Osigwe (PAO) Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference in Lagos, Kazim acknowledged the inevitable scrutiny that comes with being a public figure, saying he focuses on his work rather than trying to control public opinion.
“When you’re in the public eye, you can’t control every opinion or narrative. What matters most is staying focused and trusting that the end result justifies the means,” Kazim said.
In addition to addressing marriage rumors, Kazim discussed the challenges facing the Yoruba movie industry, naming funding as a major hurdle.
According to Kazim, successful collaborations and sufficient funding are essential for producing high-quality movies that showcase unique storylines and talented actors.
“We have the talent and creative vision to produce outstanding films, but our limited resources hold us back from bringing those stories to life,” Kazim emphasized. “We know how we want to tell our stories, but without adequate funding, we’re unable to fully realize our vision.”
