Lagos Police Nab Three Suspects for Stealing iPhones from Road Accident Victims

In a daring attempt to steal valuables from victims of a road accident, three individuals were apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by the RRS, the suspects were caught in the act just a short distance away from the crash scene. The victims, who were traveling in a red Toyota Camry 2010, had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider in Ikeja.

Instead of offering aid to the injured, the suspects allegedly searched the vehicle and the victims’ pockets, making off with a highly valuable iPhone 15 worth ₦1,300,000 and an iPhone 12 worth ₦620,000.

Alerted to the theft, RRS officers gave chase and detained the suspects, recovering the stolen phones. The officers also assisted in transporting the victims to a nearby hospital and clearing the vehicle from the road.

In a statement, the RRS revealed that the suspects have made significant confessions and are set to be charged in court today, as per the directives of the RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye.
