Mass Sudden Deaths Grip Oyo Community: 4 Health Workers Fall

Former Oyo Lawmaker, Babatunde Eesuola Is Dead

A sense of unease grips Saki residents after string of mysterious deaths at a local hospital

A tragic chain of events has unfolded in Saki, Oyo State, leaving residents shaken and searching for answers.

The unfortunate sequence of events began when a nurse lost her life three days ago, followed by the deaths of a doctor and two other nurses at Almusharaf Hospital in Oke Sunah over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday.

A local resident, Adekunle Lawal, shared his concerns with Vanguard, saying, “It’s been a flurry of tragic events – a nurse died three days ago, another nurse on Monday, and then the doctor and another nurse yesterday.” He expressed his fear and uncertainty, wondering if a contagious disease might be responsible for the staff members’ deaths.

Lawal speculated that the hospital, which offers minor surgery and occasionally brings in visiting doctors, might have handled a patient with a contagious disease poorly, leading to the staff fatalities. He also raised the possibility of food poisoning, suggesting that one of the deceased might have eaten something contaminated and then shared it with others.

Lawal urged the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to take swift action, including conducting an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death. Notably, none of the patients at the hospital died during this period, only the staff members.

Adeola Fehintola, a local lawyer, agreed that those responsible for surveillance should investigate the matter further. She suggested that the hospital’s proximity to borders might be a factor, implying that someone with a contagious disease might have recently entered the area.

Fehintola urged those in charge to take immediate action to uncover the truth behind the mysterious deaths.
