Ifeanyi Okowa, Former Delta State Governor, Makes Public Appearance After Release

After being held for four days on allegations of ₦1.3 trillion fraud, Okowa emerged from custody with his passport seized as part of his bail conditions. This marks his first public appearance since his release.

The occasion was a service of songs held in honor of Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, mother of prominent politician Godwill Obielum. The event took place on Wednesday at Obielum’s residence in Asaba, drawing a diverse crowd of attendees.

The guest list included notable figures from the political sphere, such as Delta State PDP Chairman Solomon Arenyenka, members of the party’s state executive committee, and various security personnel – both serving and retired.

Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry delivered a thought-provoking sermon, emphasizing the importance of living a life of purpose.

He cautioned that no one knows when death will come, and therefore, it is crucial to prepare by living a good life and leaving a lasting legacy. As he put it, “people will be remembered for what they did.”

Mrs. Obielum, who passed away at 87 on June 20, 2024, will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 16, in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area. The service of songs celebrated her life and legacy, bringing together a wide range of political and community leaders to pay their respects.
