UEFA Launches Investigation into Referee David Coote’s Conduct at Euro 2024
Controversy has erupted around David Coote, a suspended Premier League referee, following the emergence of a video showing him using a white powder during his involvement at Euro 2024. The development comes just days after Coote’s suspension by the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Board) due to another video allegedly capturing him making disparaging comments about Liverpool and former manager Jurgen Klopp.
The new footage in question is believed to have been recorded on July 6, the day after the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, where Coote worked as an assistant VAR.
The UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) ethics and disciplinary committee is now reviewing the incident to determine if any of its disciplinary regulations were violated.
In a statement, UEFA confirmed that an inspector has been appointed to investigate the matter and provide updates when necessary.
Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has shared his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “siu” celebration.
In a recent interview with The CR7 Timeline, Salah was asked about his favorite goal celebration and revealed that he’s a fan of Ronaldo’s, stating, “Cristiano, Siu, I like it a lot.” Both Salah and Ronaldo are renowned for their exceptional scoring abilities.
Ronaldo, 39, is football’s all-time leading scorer with over 900 goals to his name, and is still going strong with 10 goals and three assists in 15 games this season. Salah has been equally impressive, with 221 goals and 99 assists in 366 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in 2017.
