Federal Capital Territory Minister Dismisses Atiku’s Chances of Securing PDP Ticket
In a live media session in Abuja, Minister Nyesom Wike expressed his doubts about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s ability to secure the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the 2027 general elections.
According to reports by Naijawebinfo, Atiku recently claimed that his leadership approach would differ from President Bola Tinubu’s if he had won the 2023 elections, and that Nigerians would not be experiencing the current level of hardship. However, Wike is skeptical about Atiku’s chances, citing the repeated rejection of his vision by Nigerians.
“Atiku presented his blueprint to Nigerians, but they didn’t choose him,” Wike said. “Now he’s seeking another chance, but that opportunity won’t come. In which party? How can we rely on the same person for so many years?”
Wike also drew a parallel with the American political landscape, pointing out that despite opposition to Trump, Americans ultimately made their decision based on what they believed was best for their country.
“In 2023, Nigerians listened to Atiku’s proposals and decided it wasn’t the right fit,” Wike concluded. “Criticisms alone don’t signify that the opposition is truly resonating with the people.”
