APC’s Rivers State Congress Will Go Ahead as Planned
In a statement released on Friday, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the APC National Organizing Secretary, announced that the party’s Rivers State chapter congress will indeed take place as scheduled.
The decision comes after a court ruling vacated an earlier restraining order that prevented the party from conducting the congress.
The party remains committed to adhering to due process and upholding the rule of law, according to Argungu.
He emphasized the importance of party stakeholders and members working together to ensure the success of the congress in the state.
“After a thorough review of the latest court developments, the APC confirms that its scheduled All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State Elective Congresses for Saturday, November 16, 2024, will proceed as planned.”
The initial ex-parte order in Suit No: PHC/2699/CS/2024, which sought to restrain the party from conducting the congress, has been lifted by the court.
Consequently, the Rivers State High Court has ruled that there is no valid order preventing the APC from organizing the Rivers State Elective Congress.
In light of this decision, the APC reaffirms its commitment to conducting the congress in a transparent and law-abiding manner,” the statement read.
