Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has slammed FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over allegations of land seizures and transfers to associates, warning that the minister will eventually be held accountable for his actions.
Adeyanju made these remarks during a press conference in Abuja, in response to comments made by Wike the previous day. The minister had earlier mentioned Adeyanju, saying he had refused to support his bid to become the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary.
However, Adeyanju refuted Wike’s claims, stating that he had indeed approached the minister for support during his active political years, but this was part of wider consultations with PDP stakeholders. He disclosed that he had met with several PDP governors at the time and received endorsement from many of them.
Adeyanju criticized Wike for raising the matter years later, describing it as unnecessary and self-serving. He also accused the minister of turning against him due to past disagreements over Wike’s support for certain political figures.
The lawyer further alleged that Wike’s public service career has been centered around personal enrichment, accusing him of monopolizing public resources and engaging in corrupt practices. He claimed that Wike has been implementing policies that negatively impact the public, including land-grabbing practices.
Adeyanju accused Wike of having a “god complex” and being intolerant of dissent, stating that he had evidence to back up his claims. He vowed to continue challenging any questionable actions, saying that Wike will eventually be held accountable for his actions.
