Ex-CEO recounts $3.5m loss to scamming South African partner in Kenyan venture

Murray-Bruce Reflects On $3.5 Million Loss To Fraudulent South African Partner In Kenya Deal

Silverbird Group Founder Ben Murray-Bruce Opens Up about Devastating Business Ventures Gone Wrong

At a recent conference in Lagos, Nigeria, the renowned media mogul and former Bayelsa State Senator shared heart-wrenching stories about the financial losses he had endured due to poor investments. One of the most painful experiences he recounted was his $3.5 million loss in a South African business partnership.

According to Murray-Bruce, the deal was supposed to involve the purchase of a cinema complex in Kenya, but his South African partner secretly registered the business under their own name, rendering the investment worthless. Devastated by the sudden turn of events, he exclaimed, “I thought we were going to start a new venture, and instead, I lost all the money!”

The entrepreneur isn’t the only one bearing witness to financial woes, as he’s currently fighting a legal battle with a high-profile Hollywood actor regarding his Los Angeles-based film studio.

Despite the setbacks, Murray-Bruce continues to pursue his passion for the entertainment industry. His current project, a socially conscious movie script, will focus on tackling pressing societal issues. Emphasizing the importance of creativity and mentorship, he remarks, “Kids are future leaders, learning to be tough, but some see them as crooks. We need to nurture talent, and leaders in entertainment often come from humble backgrounds.” He proudly shares, “I’ve never invested solely in film production until now, and I know this script will be different.”
