Labor Party Dispels Disqualification Rumors Ahead of Ondo Gubernatorial Election
With the Ondo State gubernatorial election just around the corner, the Labor Party has set the record straight regarding rumors that its candidate, Olusola Ebiseni, has been disqualified.
The claims stem from a recent appeal court judgment, which seemingly disqualified Ebiseni as the Labor Party’s candidate. However, the party is adamant that these reports are unfounded.
The Labor Party points to a previous court ruling, which recognized Ebiseni as the party’s legitimate candidate. Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Ebiseni and his running mate, Ezekiel Awude, as the party’s candidates for the election.
In his ruling, Justice Nwite highlighted several key points that demonstrated Ebiseni’s legitimacy. These included the payment of ₦20 million for his nomination form, the official issuance of the form, and the party’s instruction to pay ₦5 million to Festus Olorunfemi as compensation for withdrawing from the race.
The Labor Party chairperson, Mrs. Remilekun Ojo, echoed these sentiments, dismissing the disqualification claims as baseless rumors. She claimed that internal resolutions had already addressed the issues before the court’s ruling and accused politicians from other parties of spreading false information to sow confusion within the Labor Party.

In an interview with DAILY POST, Mrs. Ojo vehemently denied the rumors, calling them “lies.” She suggested that the real reason behind the circulating reports is that politicians from other parties perceive the Labor Party as a threat in the upcoming election and are attempting to discredit it.
