Ondo Governorship Poll: Labour Party, APC Poised for Election-Day Faceoff

Labour Party, APC Set For Showdown In Ondo Governorship Election – Ebiseni

The Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for November 16, has pitted the Labour Party against the ruling All Progressives Congress, according to the Labour Party’s candidate, Olusola Ebiseni.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ebiseni emphasized that the real contest would be between the Labour Party and the APC, dismissing the influence of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He downplayed the chances of the PDP’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, a former deputy governor, stating that Ajayi does not pose a significant threat to the Labour Party’s momentum.

Ebiseni stated, “This election is a showdown between two political parties and their administrations. The PDP is not a factor in this election.”

He compared the credibility and performance of the APC and Labour Party by highlighting the roles played by former deputies, including Aiyedatiwas, who served as deputy governor under Governor Akeredolu, and himself, who has experience as a local government chairman and commissioner under former Governor Mimiko.

When asked about his relationship with Mimiko, Ebiseni described him as a friend and stated that he did not have any issues with the former governor.

However, despite Ebiseni’s assurances, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has disqualified him as the Labour Party’s candidate for the Ondo State governorship election, citing a breach of the party’s nomination process.

In a unanimous decision, the three-member panel ruled that the Labour Party’s appeal against Ebiseni’s candidacy was allowed, effectively disqualifying him from the election.
