Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Bamidele Akingboye, is urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to crack down on politicians accused of bringing vote-buying money into Ondo State.
Akingboye, who made the appeal during a recent press interview, is calling on the EFCC to swoop in on hotels in the Ijako area, where he claims the money is being stored. The SDP candidate wants the commission to seize the allegedly ill-gotten gains.
Speaking on his decision to campaign honestly, Akingboye emphasized that he respects the rules set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and expects other candidates to do the same. He stressed that anyone who wants to campaign freely should do so within the bounds of the law.
Akingboye lamented that the state’s economy is in shambles and the people are suffering, likening the current state of affairs to a clouded sun. He pledged to revive the state’s economy and deliver for the citizens if elected governor.
In response to a question about his chances of winning the upcoming election, Akingboye said that his extensive experience and dedication to the state’s development set him apart from other candidates. He believes that he is the only candidate capable of liberating the state and bringing prosperity back to the people.
Akingboye concluded by reiterating his commitment to serving the people of Ondo State, saying that his 24-year journey to become governor is not just a passion project, but a sincere effort to deliver on his promises and restore the state’s economy.
