‘I Believe Lagbaja Has Received His Crown In Heaven’ – Says Remi Tinubu At Late COAS’s Funeral

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, believes that the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has received a crown of righteousness from the Lord.

On Friday, Tinubu paid tribute to the late general at a memorial service, which was attended by top government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

A military motorcade, accompanied by an army pipe band and horsemen, escorted the body of the late Army Chief to the National Christian Centre in Abuja, where it was laid to rest.

Tinubu, along with other high-ranking officials, honored the deceased general for his exemplary character and commitment to the nation’s defense. She recalled that Lagbaja had fought a good fight and was now at peace, receiving the reward he had earned.

In her speech, Tinubu said: “He had fought the good fight, he had finished his place. He kept the faith. And I believe he has received his crown. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, and I pray that they may find comfort in God’s loving arms.”

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, as well as other service chiefs and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, attended the service.

The Director of Chaplaincy Services (Army), Lt.-Col. TE Ogbonyomi, delivered a sermon titled “The Life of Victory”, emphasizing that victory is desirable by God for all men who serve Him.

Ogbonyomi praised Lagbaja for his leadership and vision, which transformed the military into a highly motivated force dedicated to the nation’s defense. He also noted that the late general’s life was lived according to scriptural teachings, ensuring that he would be remembered.

Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the late Chief of Army Staff, his family, and the Nigerian army, as well as for guidance and strength for those who will continue his work.
