Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia, reveals how her portrayal of a witch in a movie series led to a journey of self-discovery and therapy
Naijawebinfo recently spoke with Etinosa about her experience, sharing some intriguing insights into the world of acting. Among other topics, she shed light on the often misunderstood process of falling in love with one’s on-screen partner.
During the conversation, Etinosa candidly discussed how playing certain roles can seep into her psyche, saying, “When actors are given a role, it’s a reflection of how the casting director views them. It’s complicated, but it’s not uncommon for the character’s persona to linger after production wraps up. I, too, had to process my own experience after portraying a witch in the Blood of Enogie series – a transformation that ultimately necessitated therapy to shake off the lingering magic.”
Movements like True Story and relatable protagonists also have a significant place in Etinosa’s film projects
She discussed the significance of drawing from real-life experiences, pointing to EtinosaTV as a prime example, “I’m drawn to projects like Baby Elephant, which uses authentic storytelling to address complex social issues, such as body shaming and internalized self-doubt.”
In a bold assertion of her professional priorities, Etinosa prioritizes boundary-setting in her work, deliberately steering clear of projects that promote violent or dishonest narratives.
