INEC reinstates Festus as Labour Party candidate after dropping Ebiseni, Ondo election update!

Ondo Election: INEC Drops Ebiseni, Restores Festus As Labour Party Candidate

INEC Announces Last-Minute Change in Ondo State Governorship Election Candidates

In a surprise move just hours before the Ondo State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has replaced Olusola Ebiseni as the Labour Party (LP) candidate with Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus.

The decision follows a ruling by the Court of Appeal, which nullified Ebiseni’s claim to the ticket and reinstated Festus as the authentic candidate.

INEC confirmed the change on its official social media handle, stating that it had received a Certified True Copy of the judgement and was obligated to update its records accordingly.

The appellate court’s ruling came after Festus’s party, LP, appealed a previous federal high court decision that had recognized Ebiseni as the candidate. The appellate court struck out the original judgement, citing lack of jurisdiction.

According to INEC, it has restored Festus’s name as the Labour Party candidate for the 2024 Ondo State Governorship election and uploaded the information to its website for public access.
