Ondo Election: Labour Reinstates Candidate, Casting Doubt on Previous Rerun

Reinstalled Labour Party’s Candidate Votes In Ondo Governorship Election

Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate, Festus Ayo Olorunfemi, Has Cast His Vote in the Ondo State Election

Naijawebinfo has reported that Olorunfemi exercised his franchise at his designated polling unit in Ward 5, Ajowa-Akoko, within the Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State. This unit is Unit 8, to be specific.

A recent High Court verdict called for Olorunfemi’s name to be included on the election ballot, a decision upheld by the Appeal Court. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) subsequently listed him as a candidate for the election.

A tense atmosphere unfolded in Ofosun Village, located on the Ondo-Edo state border, as gunfire rang out early Saturday morning. The perpetrators, whose identities remain unknown, were targeting the village.

Residents of Ofosun Village opted to stay indoors, fearing for their safety due to stray bullets flying through the area. When contacted by phone, a local resident identified as Dauda stated, “We’re at a loss as to who is behind the gunfire. It began early in the morning in certain parts of the village. No injuries have been reported, but people in the village are choosing to stay indoors as a precaution.”

Ofosun is a village located near the Edo state capital of Benin, within the Ondo State boundary.

The deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Festus Akingbaso, praised voter turnout during the election. However, he expressed concern over alleged infiltrations by hoodlums in villages within Idanre Local Government Area.
