Pastor Adeboye urged to retire peacefully

‘Retire, Go Home’ – Inibehe Tells Pastor Adeboye

Human rights lawyer Effiong Inibehe has urged Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), to step down from supporting the government of President Bola Tinubu.

Inibehe’s remarks came in response to Pastor Adeboye’s statement that God intervened through his prayers to prevent the naira from plummeting to ₦10,000 per US dollar.

Adeboye also praised President Tinubu for abolishing fuel subsidy, which he claimed was the root of the country’s financial woes.

Inibehe was not impressed with Adeboye’s words and advised him to “hang up his hat” and retreat from public life.

Inibehe accused Adeboye of misleading Nigerians by claiming the government had stopped paying fuel subsidy.

“Pastor Enoch Adeboye should reconsider his involvement in national politics. His statements often offend the sensibilities of rational individuals,” Inibehe said.

“It’s essential to know when to step down. Adeboye’s support for this incompetent and oppressive government is an affront to Christianity,” he added.

Inibehe believes that many Nigerians have stopped attending church due to the hypocrisy and complicity of religious leaders like Adeboye.

Inibehe claimed that Tinubu’s government has not addressed the rot and corruption in the oil sector, despite public statements suggesting otherwise.

“It’s preposterous to attribute the naira’s stability to Pastor Adeboye’s prayers. Exchange rates are determined by economic and monetary policies, as well as a country’s productivity,” Inibehe said.

Inibehe questioned the effectiveness of Adeboye’s prayers, pointing out that despite decades of prayer, Nigeria’s problems persist.

Inibehe also criticized Adeboye for associating with corrupt politicians and political leaders.
