Ondo State Deputy Governor Exercises His Civic Right in Governorship Election

Naijawebinfo reports that Olayide Adelami, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election.

Adelami joined a line of voters at his designated polling station, Igboroko 2, Ward 3 Unit 16, in the Owo local government area, around 9:40 AM. He was accompanied by his family members as he fulfilled his civic duty.

In a conversation with reporters after voting, Adelami emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process, urging residents of Owo and the entire state to exercise their right to vote.

“Your vote is your power,” Adelami said. “I urge you all to come out and vote. By doing so, you will be contributing to the promotion of good governance and a greater Ondo state.”

As the Deputy Governor, Adelami is serving alongside Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

In a separate development, Festus Akingbaso, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has expressed concerns over the presence of thugs in the Idanre Local Government Area during the election.

Akingbaso, a House of Representatives member, shared his observations with journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 005, Oke Imikan. While commending the turnout of voters and the security arrangements at polling stations, he expressed worry over the activities of thugs in the area.

“I am impressed with the level of voter turnout and the peaceful conduct at the polling units so far, but the presence and activities of thugs in Idanre are worrisome,” Akingbaso said.

Akingbaso called on security agencies to ensure the safety of voters and electoral officials in the local government, stressing the need to protect the integrity of the election process.

Residents in Idanre have also raised similar concerns, urging authorities to address the situation promptly to prevent disruptions. Security personnel are reportedly on alert, with reinforcements deployed to maintain peace in the area.

As voting continues across Ondo State, stakeholders continue to emphasize the importance of a credible and peaceful election.

Akingbaso expressed confidence in the electoral process, saying, “The turnout of voters is not bad; the security situation is also not bad. I have not seen anything wrong at this moment. I also want to commend INEC because it has not performed badly so far.”

He advised voters to wait behind and keep watch until the final result has been announced, saying, “If everything goes as planned, my party will win.”
