INEC Shifts Result Collation Timing for Ondo Guber Election
After previously announcing a 5:00 a.m. restart for the remaining local governments, the INEC returning officer, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi, revised the timetable, pushing the collation to 12:00 p.m.
This delay is meant to facilitate the arrival of results from five local governments: Akure North, Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ilaje, and Ese-Odo.
The Returning Officer stated that there are still five local government areas to account for in the election and that their collation would resume only once all necessary results were in hand. “As there are a few results we are yet to receive from Akure North, Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ilaje, and Ese-Odo, we’ll delay the process until the said results arrive. From that point on, the collation will proceed forthwith,” Professor Akinwunmi explained.
Out of the total 18 local government areas, collations have thus far concluded in 13. Initial reports indicate Aiyedatiwa’s lead over the closest competitor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Agboola Ajayi, with the former commanding a significant advantage, amassing 259,851 votes compared to Ajayi’s 81,031 votes.
