Nigeria’s Super Eagles Face Tough Test vs Rwanda with Key Players Ruled Out

Eguavoen Calls Up Osimhen, Lookman, 20 Others For Super Eagles Matches Against Benin, Rwanda

The Nigerian Super Eagles will be facing Rwanda in their 2025 AFCON qualifying final match without some crucial players.

Stanley Nwabali, the team’s reliable goalkeeper, will be missing the game due to family commitments following the recent passing of his father. Meanwhile, wingback Ola Aina has returned to England to prepare for a Premier League match with Nottingham Forest, as the team has already secured their AFCON qualification.

The participation of Ademola Lookman remains uncertain after he suffered a knock in the previous match against Benin Republic. Maduka Okoye is expected to take charge of the goalkeeping duties in Aina’s absence.

Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will also miss the match due to an undisclosed injury that kept him out of the previous game against Benin.

Despite the absence of key players, the Super Eagles are well-placed to field some fringe players who are eager to showcase their talents. Currently, they sit atop Group D with 11 points, securing their spot in the next round.

Rwanda, meanwhile, is third in the group with five points and will be looking for a victory to leapfrog Benin Republic into second place. This could be a crucial win for them, especially as they prepare for a challenging match against Libya, who are still in the hunt for qualification after defeating Rwanda recently.
