Ondo State Governorship Election: PDP Rejects Results, Calls for Investigation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared the Ondo State governorship election a sham, citing widespread irregularities and manipulation. The party rejects the results, which declared the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner.

Aiyedatiwa secured a landslide victory, winning all 18 local government areas with 366,781 votes, while PDP’s Agboola Ajayi managed 117,845 votes.

The results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following Saturday’s election.

In a statement, PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba condemned the election, describing it as a “dismal failure” that fell short of democratic expectations.

“The PDP and lovers of democracy around the world have witnessed a catastrophic event in the history of our elections,” Ologunagba said.

The party accused the APC of orchestrating a massive electoral fraud, citing allegations of vote buying, voter suppression, and monetization of the electoral process.

Ologunagba alleged that the election was marred by widespread corruption, saying, “The poll was characterized by rampant election merchandising, monetization, and brazen vote buying.” The PDP has promised to review the outcome and take appropriate action.

The party appealed to Nigerians and the international community to take stern action to address election manipulation and protect the country’s democratic integrity.
